Customer Reviews

Whoa, thats great.

I love the mix of sounds in this album. As a music connoisseur I am very happy to add Scythian to my top index.

One of the best live acts!

Wow, probably the first time i have a review on the first page! I bought this album after seeing them at the Celtic Fling in PA. They are so incredible and charismatic live. It's a really solid album and shows that they are maturing by exploring their folk side. As with their earlier albums, there are some great songs, mostly good songs, and a couple of forgettable songs. I listen to them for their celtic sounds, but they really branch out this time out and mature quite a bit. I love both their folky side and they throw in some summery songs that really work well in a suprising way. My favorite songs are the Hoodoo-tinged Hey Mama Ya (painfully good both live and on album), Corrina (crazy-good live, and good on the album), and Jack Dempsey (the best classic celtic-sounding song on the album). If you work in a cubicle like I do, then Cubicles and Tylenol hits you in a special place. They are folky like the Avett Brothers this time around. They do not sound as good a fit for folk songs as Avett Brothers, but they belong as justifiable artists in that genre. It is my hope that they craft more celtic songs and maybe do a summer-themed album. They have a running theme of Eastern-Europe sounding songs that work really well live, but are a little flat on albums. I hope to see them many more years at the Celtic Fling!
