Album Review

Atlanta-based Christian rapper Alex Faith broke out on his debut album, ATLast, after multiple online singles and appearances on various mixtapes of his own and other artists. Embracing his spirituality without sacrificing any muscle in either delivery or production, the tracks on ATLast deal with issues of poverty, social injustice, and the rougher parts of living in the Dirty South over heavy beats. Faith is joined by contemporary Christian hip-hop artists on the album, including cameos from Christon Gray, Tragic Hero, and Dre Murray.

Amped. That's the only answer.

Honest review

What it is- a phenomenally sounding album, that speaks from the heart of a married Christian man who deals/addresses sin in himself and the world honestly and objectively while understanding that he's still ACTUALLY & not just THEORETICALLY subject to its effects.

What it's not- an album that distances the artist from sin, except thru the work of Christ alone- by grace. It doesn't lend itself or lead others towards the danger of legalism, because of a boasting in works. It doesn't lend itself towards the notion of the current other than to address the facts that it's flawed and it's fleeting, & to point towards the Risen KING who's coming again. That's very important to remember, especially when one is addressing sin- to have the ALREADY mindset, as well as the NOT YET. It's also not an album that comes off as prideful, or laced with false humility. There is a genuineness and openness that has not been presented by ppl with a platform this size (at least none that I know of).

Just heard the streaming of this album and it is AMAZING!! There's not one song in this that you won't like trust.

Atlanta-bred Christian MC Alex Faith arrived on the CCM hip-hop scene in 2009 with a guest spot on Sho Baraka's Barakology mixtape. From there he went on to be featured prominently on tracks from several well-loved artists in the Southern Christian rap world, contributing verses to material from Swoope and Dre Murray. Faith eventually followed up with his own online singles and mixtapes, and in 2013 released his debut full-length, ATLast, a collection of rhymes that were as observational of the ills...
