iTunes Review

On their second album, soulful space cadets André 3000 and Big Boi channel the unexpected success of their debut, and their rising stature as Southern rap ambassadors, into something darker and knottier. P-Funk grooves, dub, and gospel simmer alongside fish, grits, and all that pimpin'. But the boldest innovations on ATLiens happen within the rapping itself, like the dizzying cadences of "Babylon" or the subject of "13th Floor / Growing Old," a piercing meditation on mortality—simultaneously of this world and out of it.

one of the best rap albums of the 90's

Outkast is quite possibly one of the best and most overlooked rap groups, which is a shame. This album, in my opinion, is their masterpeice. ATLiens is the most original rap album I have ever heard, and you can tell that Outkast put alot of heart into making it. After the "You May Die" intro, you know that you are in for something amazing. Their lyrics are top notch, along with very smooth beats. Outkast's early works were among their best, and this album is their shining example.

One of the Greatest

A truly great album, incredibly ahead of its time, a must have for any true fan of hip hop.

A Must Have!!

If you do not own this album you need to stop reading reveiws and buy it already! Every song from top to bottom is genius! This album is way overlooked and that is a SHAME! For sure an all time favorite and best purchase possible on itunes.

OutKast's blend of gritty Southern soul, fluid raps, and the low-slung funk of their Organized Noize production crew epitomized the Atlanta wing of hip-hop's rising force, the Dirty South, during the mid to late '90s. Along with Goodie Mob, OutKast took Southern hip-hop in bold and innovative directions: less reliance on aggression, more positivity and melody, thicker arrangements, and intricate lyrics. After Dré and Big Boi hit number one on the rap charts with their first single, "Player's Ball,"...
