Editors’ Notes

Constantly grinding and steadily making moves, So Cal emcee/producer Curtiss King has spent the last few years cranking out mixtapes and building a devoted fanbase. He's now signed to Black Cloud Music, and his numerous indie offerings include The Storm on Mars and Notorious Scholars in addition to a growing collection of remixes, high-profile placements, and collaborations. Atychiphobia is his first official album and finds him getting especially deep in terms of personal songwriting; many tracks are about relationships and autobiographical childhood reminiscing. The jump-off single, "Ratchets Still Jockin'," is a highlight, with an old-school sax-and-keys loop that'd sound right at home on Three's Company, with a great broke-but-still-macking story. "Loyal Mrs." (with Noa James) flaunts another sick '70s jazz-funk sample, paired with snappy 808s and romantic rhymes about the powers of a good woman. "Doorknobs" is a sweeping emo anthem and tribute to his mother. Don't miss the space-age "In My Zone" or "No Negativity Around Me."

Customer Reviews

Dope.

Definitely worth the wait.

A Classic cloaked in Humbleness

It's been a long journey full of growth and promise from this dude since the early days of "Snick @ Nite" & "Jet-Pack on E." Now he serves you with a bevy of notable "CLASSICS" such as "Ratchets Still Jockin" & "Hella Close" with my personal favorite "Sade.Badu.Jill"
