Album Review

Since forming in Birmingham, Alabama in 2009, Erra have become one of the most talked about bands on the progressive metal scene. Combining a relentless, technically precise attack with ambitious melodic and lyrical concepts, Erra have won a loyal and growing following thanks to their self-released debut EP, 2010's Andromeda, and their first full-length album, 2011's Impulse. With their third album, 2013's Augment, Erra push their music forward with another set of artful but hard-hitting songs. Selections include "Alpha Seed," "Dreamwalkers," "Hybrid Earth," "Crimson," and eight others., Rovi

Like a fish Im hooked on Erra

I just got into these dudes and I'm so stoked for this album! This has to be the fastest I've ever loved a band.

If you like good music, you will LOVE this album

Let me start off by saying this, I've never written a review for an album in my life. That's how much I think of Erra's new album "Augment." If you are a fan of Erra's previous albums, you will love this Album. There is a much more mature nature to their sound, while still staying true to their roots. You can tell from hearing a couple of riffs this is the same band. There is more singing than in their previous work, which is typically something I'm not a huge fan of, but I absolutely love it in Augment. The melodies and flow of the songs are well thought out and are nothing short of perfection. They have improved upon any weaknesses that were present in Impulse and in staying true to their progressive sound, have gone above and beyond what I would have thought was possible for them. The album is dark and heavy, but also emotional and beautiful. I couldn't help but get chills as I listened to the lyrics and overpowering melodies from the guitars. That's what I, and I'm sure, many of you love about Erra. They stay heavy but bring a beauty along with their music few bands can match. Their lyrics are thought provoking and inspire one to progress and change for the better. The dudes in the band all some like they are down to earth guys who love writing music that would inspire people to do better, not just create music for music's sake.
In short, you would be doing a disservice to yourselves by not purchasing this album and supporting these guys. The world needs better music and musicians like Erra.

A few of my favorite tracks are Rebirth, Crimson, Pulse, and Alpha Seed, although every song is incredible in their own way.
