August Rush AMAZING!
Both the film August Rush and its soundtrack are stellar! I was weary going into the sneak preview on friday that the movie would be cheesy, but I was pleasantly surprised. The music is solid, and it's so nice to see that many of the actors in the film were actually singing/playing the music. Jamia Simone in Raise It Up has an amazing voice, and is only ten years old! And Jonathan Rhys Meyers sings wonderfully, as does Leon Thomas III.
By far, one of the best movies of the year, and possibly just one of the best movies, ever. Beautiful story, beautiful music, perfect ending. (pay attention to the music while the credits are rolling)
Incredible score, shoe-in for an Oscar
First off, I have to say that this is one of only two movies that have truly made me break down in tears (the other is Finding Neverland), and one of the biggest factors for that was the music. There was one part near the end when August's Rhapsody and Lewis's song were playing together that I was literally blown back in my seat, it was so powerfull. Also akin to Finding Neverland, this is one of the only albums that I would buy to listen to the orchastral pieces, not only the lyrical. This score deserves an Oscar, and if it doesn't get one, the awards are more screwed up then they seem. My favorite songs from the album are (in no particular order) Moondance (Jonathan Rhys Meyers's version), This Time, Raise it Up, Something Inside, Someday and Dueling Guitars.
