Having listened to all the avengers soundtracks (that is those for the independent movies of Thor, Captain America, Iron Man 1 and 2, and the Incredible Hulk) I can say that this soundtrack easily fits the bill for what most people expected this soundtrack to be. However I have two points of contention: 1. while I still enjoy the Captain America soundtrack I can't help but feel that this is simple a continuation of it. Example if you had put any one of these in the captain america soundtrack it wouldn't stand out, that is except for the avengers and stark goes green. 2. I honestly don't think that this soundtrack is EPIC enough, it really doesn't fit the description of the soundtrack I thought I would be hearing years ago when I first heard that this movie was in the works. You have some of marvel's best superheroes finally all on one screen and yet this soundtrack doesn't sell me on just how EPIC that is. I understand the need for dark nuance but every now and then I want to here something that truly reminds me titanic battles between superheroes and super villains. In the end I feel as if this has already been done and all that I can hope for now is that somewhere down the line when they make a sequel they put a little more effort into the music, particularly in the area of distinguishing themes for each hero (it literally creates endless possibilities for score arrangement.)

Missing a Track: Where's "Interrogation"?!

Great great score, but missing a rather good track that's on the CD release. Please add this!!!

A Well Assembled Score

When I heard Alan Silvestri was doing the score, I was less than optomistic at first,. He is a great composer and has done many great soundtracks, but for a comic book film, I personally was hoping the studio would hire a composer capable of delivering not only great music, but an epic, memorable theme. Themes like John Willaim's Superman Theme, Hans Zimmer's Batman Themes, and Danny Elfman's Spider-Man theme all stand out from one another, are strong, and have diverse sounds that define the overall feeling of the films. I wasn't sure if Silvestri could deliver a score on those levels despite his track record. But today, I have been proven wrong. Not only is score in its entirety great, but the theme has proven to be just as brilliant and awesome as I had hoped for. I can’t wait to be able to hear this music while enjoying what I am sure will be a brilliant film.

Of composer Alan Silvestri's many film scores, he is perhaps best-known for his work with director Robert Zemeckis, starting with their first movie project, Romancing the Stone, and continuing through the next decades with many more blockbuster classics. Silvestri began playing music at a young age while growing up in Teaneck, NJ, and was already considering a music career by the age of 15. He attended the Berklee College of Music in Boston, but after only two years moved out to Las Vegas and started...
