Album Review

Released just before his first album for the Gospo Centric label, The Definitive Collection is an overview that covers Dave Hollister's first four solo albums, and it also includes two of his spotlight roles with Blackstreet ("Before I Let You Go," "Falling in Love Again") and one with Force One Network ("Spirit [Does Anybody Care]," from the Boyz N the Hood soundtrack). There can't be a great deal of demand for this disc; Hollister has his followers, most of whom have been with him through 2003's Real Talk, and he placed only eight solo singles on the charts during this period. Nonetheless, this is a representative introduction to a singer who has unjustly remained in the margins. Most of the singles are featured here, along with several choice album cuts.

Customer Reviews

G-O-A-T of R&B. GREATEST OF ALL TIME in R&B Male Artist.

Like he said "the game done changed". This man never got the recognition as a solo artist that he OH SO deserved!!! If you don't have Dave Hollister in your collection, then you simply don't have a collection!! Now that he is no longer doing R&B his classics will go down in history. They say everything happens for a reason and maybe it was in the cards for him to not get the recongnition that he deserves, so that he could go and do music for the Lord instead of the hood.

My Favorite Girl!

The greatest hits is worth having for "My Favorite Girl" and the remix. These tracks were standouts back when they were originally released and I wish they would have had more play!

The VOICE!!!

Dave has a smooth voice where it could fill the room with any flavor of music. whether it is Gospel or R & B he could pull it off effortless! Great collection!
