Album Review

Of all of Universal's Deluxe Editions, Frampton Comes Alive has the least amount of bonus material. Perhaps that's because the album originally was a double record, so it isn't opened up over two discs the way Blind Faith and What's Goin' On are. Or perhaps it's because there just wasn't much to add to what's essentially a concert performance. Either way, there are just four extra tracks here: three worked into the sequence of the concert ("Just the Time of Year," "Nowhere's Too Far for My Baby," and "White Sugar"), with a radio performance of "Day's Dawning" added at the end. These are all nice additions for the hardcore, but changing the sequencing of the record changes its impact subtly, making it a little less addictive. So, this isn't quite appealing for the casuals, and doesn't quite have enough to make it absolutely necessary for diehards — although, if they pick it up, they'll likely be quite satisfied by the first-class sound and beautiful packaging.

All I want is do you feel like we do. Why must I have to but the whole entire album.

Frampton Comes Alive - Is Awesome and Live

This is a great album. As far as the "live" comments go - If you will listen to the beginning of Show Me The Way you will hear the guitar faintly at the beginning when he strums the opening four chords, then it is at the proper volume for the rest of the song. The microphone going from his Fender Super Reverb to the recording mixer was not turned up at this concert. The audience did not notice it because this did not affect the "live mix". They did recut this guitar part in the studio so that they could use this otherwise perfect performance. Don't downgrade this album because you are uninformed. This is a masterpiece album by a truly talented musician who has way more talent than all the corporate pop princesses lip-syncing their way across America today. Thank you Peter Frampton, Stanley Sheldon, Bob Mayo, and John Siomos.

Best live album ever. However, good grief you cheap skates! Support your artists and quit complaining. Be thankful that there are musicians in this world. Consider it a donation. You probably give money to bums on the corner, go home download music and then gripe that you have to pay a couple bucks for the album. Really getting tired of cheap people.

Peter Frampton was one of the biggest arena rock stars of the '70s, making his name largely on the double-LP concert set Frampton Comes Alive! Frampton was one of several '70s rock artists (Kiss, Cheap Trick, etc.) to break through to a wide audience with a live album; much like the others, he'd recorded several previous albums and built a following through extensive touring, in the process honing an exciting concert presence. That helped Frampton Comes Alive! become the best-selling live album of...
