Frampton's self-titled 1994 album was originally released on Relativity, and then reissued in 2000 on Legacy with bonus tracks. Frampton's brand of mainstream rock was irrelevant in the mid-'90s, but more to the point, it wasn't very good. Although he sounded upbeat and energetic on this set, the songwriting was just a rehash of vintage AOR riffs without much inspiration or memorable melody, and the production seemed designed to get radio airplay rather than enhance the material or any personal expression. The four bonus tracks were taken from 1994 live Japanese performances (released in Japan in 1999 as a promo-only CD), including unplugged versions of his perennials "Baby I Love Your Way" and "Show Me the Way."
Framptons Best Studio Album By Far!
This is not one of Peters spotty efforts. This CD is chock full of great songs and Peters best guitar playing since Frampton Comes Alive. Download Cant take that away from me. Waiting for your love, Changing All the time, Off the hook, and You can be sure and "You can be sure you will love these tracks". This is not a rant or rave I tell it like it is,this cd was passed over at the time of its release and "Its a plain shame it took you all this time to learn".
A great album!!!
This album is incredible! I have always liked Peter Frampton music, but this one really gets me! CAN'T TAKE THAT AWAY is brilliant blues without sounding like every other blues song that comes along. The whole album flows as one finely crafted listen. There is not a bad one here! CHANGING ALL THE TIME, IT ALL COMES DOWN TO YOU, SHELTER THROUGH THE NIGHT -- it goes on and on.. all great hooks and melodies that burn into your mind and have you humming or singing them for days. I don't have the version with the bonus acoustic tracks (that is here) because I bought my copy back when it was released in 1994 or so. This is a must have for Frampton fans, and for anyone who likes great songs, great lyrics, great melodies and of course, great GUITARS! Thanks for such a super album Peter (if you ever read this!) One of my desert island discs!!
Great CD! I enjoy it often on my bike ride with my ipod. Filled with catchy songs and awesome lyrics. Purchase and enjoy!!!
