Album Review

Human Nature's 2012 release The Motown Record features the popular Australian all-male vocal ensemble performing a variety of hits associated with iconic Detroit label. They did this previously on the 2005 album Reach Out: The Motown Record, which caught the ear of Motown legend Smokey Robinson, who eventually presented the group in its own Las Vegas show. A subsequent 2012 U.S. tour and PBS special prompted the band to rework its 2005 album and add new recordings. These are well-produced and reverent versions of the original '60s songs with more of a focus on Human Nature's four-part harmony vocal style. Included here are such songs as "Get Ready" featuring Smokey Robinson, an a cappella take on "Ooo Baby Baby," the Supremes "Stop! In the Name of Love," and many more.

Where's My Soul

I scanned the CD and was left a little cold. They somehow stripped Motown of all it's soul. The song already borderline now seems like elevator music in these guys hand. It ok if You want your Motown soulless. Other have take liberty with Motown ie Micheal McDonald, George Michael, even Barbra Striesand and still sung with heart and emotions, Nice try but The Temptations, The Supremes, Stevie Wonder,Four Tops and Smokey Robinson have nothing to fear at this stage in thier career.

Love the new take on the classic Motown sound.

It is hallowed ground, the Motown catalogue, but I love listening to Human Nature's approach to these awesome classics. Their a capella singing is flawless and they even duet with Motown founding legend Smokey Robinson. Well worth the 10 bucks!

The Motown Record

I saw Human Nature in Vegas, phenomenal stage show! Love the harmony, the acapella songs are my favorite!
