Album Review

Longtime friends and long-ago Grease co-stars John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John chose to team up once again in 2012, this time for a Christmas album designed to benefit their respective charities, the Olivia Newton-John Cancer & Wellness Center and the Jett Travolta Foundation. So, This Christmas is camp for a cause, a cheerful celebration of the familiar trappings of the season. There are friends by the busload — Cliff Richard, Chick Corea, Barbra Streisand, Kenny G, Tony Bennett, and James Taylor all pop in for a tune — there's a production as clean and crisp as newly fallen snow, there's as much cheesy Christmas cheer as a stack of reindeer sweaters sitting underneath a plastic Christmas tree. Musically, the only left turn arrives in the amiably rocking new song "I Think You Might Like It" — its guitars sound randier than the rest of the record but that's certainly on a relative scale — otherwise these are songs you know by heart, all sung with a visible smile that's either ingratiating or insufferably, unwittingly campy, depending on your perspective. The thing of it is, This Christmas winds up serving both audiences equally well: it'll brighten the season of fans who take this at face value, and for those looking for a ridiculous dose of celeb Christmas cheer, Travolta's asides to "Liv" will more than fulfill their needs.

"This Christmas" is..... The One That You buy!!

Olivia and John are back together again and its about time!!! Yes it does look like it could be a cheesy Christmas Cd but looks are deceiving. It's been over 30 years (but seems like yesterday) when John and Olivia first had their summer romance on the big screen and fans from all over wondered if they would ever get back together for a sequel. I have to admit I’m glad they didn’t get back together for another Grease movie (nothing can match the original) and choose to get together to celebrate the holidays together. Olivia voice is as crystal clear and amazing as ever and John sounds more mature and surprisingly very good (considering he Is not known as a singer). An added bonus is they have some legendary guest joining them on several tracks, Barbara Streisand, Kenny G, Tony Bennet, James Taylor, just to name a few. Along with many holiday classic here you also get a new song penned by John Farrar who wrote “You’re the One That I Want” Its called “I Think You Might Like It”. It’s a catchy tune that’s fun and cheerful. If none of what I had to say so far convinces you to buy this Cd then here is one more reason. All of Olivia and Johns proceeds from the sale of the CD will go to their charities. This season there are many new and past Christmas Cds that are out by famous stars who just pocket the money. At least I can say that with the purchase of this CD I not only satisfied my guilty pleasure of having John and Olivia for the holiday, s but I also gave to their respected charities at the same time. Happy Holidays!!!

Hands down, one of the worst holiday albums ever recorded. Almost unlistenable. Travolta is T-E-R-R-I-B-L-E!!!

Oh yeah.....

This is going to be on repeat from now until Christmas.......I love this!! The Chemistry between these two is still here. LOVE LOVE LOVE the new songs(I THINK YOU MIGHT LIKE IT)...yeah I do.

Genre: Action & Adventure

During the latter half of the 1970s, John Travolta was the biggest star in Hollywood; after a string of hits in films, on television, and on the radio, he had emerged as a true cultural phenomenon, defining tastes in music and fashion while dominating innumerable column inches in newspapers, magazines, and gossip columns. Like so many other celebrities, Travolta's initial fame proved short-lived, and by the '80s, he was viewed by the media and the public alike largely as a relic of his era; unlike...
