awesometastic wrapped in wonderful

Maria Bamford is crazy funny and is sweet and wonderful and a perfect example of everything that is GOOD in the world. Bamford is one of those people who is NOT extroverted. She’s not dominating conversations, interrupting your story with something better or funnier.. She’s a quiet listener who hears what people say and watches how they say it and pays attention to the world.. and then goes on stage and reproduces the funny absurdities of how people act and talk and turns the everyday mundane into the “holy crap” hilarious. She is amazing.

Another fantastic album!!

Maria is proof that females do make, and always have made, excellent comedians!! Her timing, material and characters are spot-on, as always, and this album is definitely worth the purchase!!

Bamford is the golden hen...

Maria Bamford has a very intelligent, manic, and thoroughly creative mind. Of course her myriad voices are funny, but there is more to her comedy than throwing out quaint impressions... (although I love her "We can go to Quiznos!!" character). She has such a gentle, unassuming attitude about life and the more I listen to her the more I find myself liking her... But she definitely is not for everyone. She can be a bit out there, and I can see some people not understanding her at all, and therefore not finding her funny. I think Maria is a gem... I hope she doesn't become mainstream and lose her edge... although it would be great to see her in a movie.... her webshow is good, but it occasionally comes off as stilted and orchestrated, which she brilliantly avoids in her stand-up. If you like obtuse, slightly weird, other-worldly, non-sequitur kinds of people... Maria Bamford is the one for you!

Oh, I did eat her key lime yoplait yogurt and Southwestern style lean cuisine.

Genre: Comedy

Years Active: '00s, '10s

Think of her as the hilarious woman with a million voices or the surreal comedian with a million anxieties, standup comedian and voice-over artist Maria Bamford was born on a naval base in Port Hueneme, California but was raised in Duluth, Minnesota. She started performing standup in Minneapolis at the age of 19 and would work temp jobs during the day. One temp job for the Nickelodeon cable television network evolved into a full-time gig performing voices on the popular cartoon CatDog. A big break...
