Reseña de álbum

After their fifth album, a self-titled 2006 release, Jagged Edge departed from Sony and landed back with Jermaine Dupri, who was quick to reclaim the group once he became president of Island Urban Music. As a title, Baby Makin' Project doesn't really do much to indicate that there will be much of a difference between its content and that of JE's past albums. There's a slightly higher percentage of ballads and midtempo songs, but for the most part, this is exactly what one should expect from the group by now — not a masterpiece, but another strong addition to the catalog. As usual, even the middling material has replay value, saved by the sound of the members' four voices; few modern groups sound this good together. For the very first time, no MCs are featured (maybe they figured it could only go further downward after Jagged Edge's "Ass Hypnotic"); Ashanti is the lone guest, and she adds deeper appeal to "Put a Little Umph in It."

Jagged Edge-Baby Makin Project

Their sixth release, Jagged Edge are back after the mediocre self titled 06 record. They leave Sony and return to create that magic again, with JD's So So Def label. Here is how the 10 track record did. Put A Little Umph In It: JD and Manuel Seal produce a mellow, slow grinding beat with dj scratches and liquid smooth feel. JE croon and harmonize nicely, as Ashanti adds a deeper feel with a nice sexy female verse. Great single, that was a great start. 4.5/5 Whole Town Laughing: Light piano and a midtempo feel, Jagged Edge do a great job here. The relaxed feel is very much welcomed as they sing about how they messed up and now the whole town's laughing. 4/5 Me That's Who: Sick Cents produced, the background is similar to "Whole Town Laughing" with an assisting piano and relaxed midtempo feel. Another quality track. 3.5/5 Get This: JD & Manuel Seal return for another production of piano and midtempo production. The light guitar at the hook works nicely. 3.5/5 I'll Be Damned: JD's light string guitar lacing, with playful xylophone line work nicely with this ballad. It is another strong track. 4/5 Can't Get Right: Smooth keyboard production that has bumpy bass, lush hi hats and a great midtempo feel. Their singing is nicely shown, with each verse smooth talking about how they can't get right without their girl in the bed, among other things. 4/5 Way To Say I Love You: JD creates a harp strumming midtempo number that was decent. 3.5/5 Sunrise: Sick Cents' creates a synthy clap production, light and suttle, JE glide on this breezy number. 3/5 Round And Round: Guitar and tongue clicking production, this slow love ballad is meant specifically for the bedrooms. 3.5/5 Turn U On: Selasi have one of the best productions on the album, with a more uptempo beat and string arrangement, mixed with some soldier snares and assisting bass. A nice ender that is fitting. 4/5 Jagged Edge's return is a very nice one, not a classic, but definetly another solid album to add to the collection. As explained by the title, the track is mainly for the ladies, with more ballads and midtempos than previous records. "Turn U On" is the most vibrant and uptempo it gets, but it shines as a nice album ender. "Put A Little Umph In It" is an excellent slow grinding love track that is above the others on here, Ashanti assists with a nice verse. "Can't Get Right" and "I'll Be Damned" were nice numbers, as "Way To Say I Love You" succeeds due to its harp strumming production. The beats and production are mainly handled by Jermaine Dupri & Manuel Seal, who take half, the other by Sick Cents, and Selasi handles the final track. A solid album and one that will satisfy fans and those looking for some great harmonizing ballads or midtempos. It doesn't get boring, and is timed nicely at around 40 minutes. Rating 8 out of 10

Jagged Edge - Baby Makin' Project

Jagged Edge is one of the best talented bands I've listened to. They have amazing voices and talent. The beats and the lyrics are great, but the songs are common in terms of R&B music. Nevertheless, Jagged Edge still did a great job on this album. RECOMMENDED SONGS: 1. Put a Little Umph In It 2. Me That's Who 3. I'll Be Damned 4. Can't Get Right 5. Sunrise 6. Turn U On

Can someone tell me why ALL of their songs are just different versions of "Let's Get Married"? Me and my friends joke around and make a game out of singing "Let's Get Married" to all of their songs. This group is just so sad. They have great voices but absolutely NO VISION or creativity. They should change the already stupid name of this album to Money Making Machine. This is nothing more than some more lame R&B music that will be easily forgotten soon after listening to it. This industry is just terrible. Can someone please find Maxwell or D'Angelo and show these guys how it's done!!!!!!

Rough-but-smooth male vocal quartet Jagged Edge formed in Atlanta, Georgia, consisting of identical twin brothers Brandon "Case Dinero" Casey and Brian "Brasco" Casey, who had moved from their native Hartford, Connecticut; Kyle Norman (aka "Quick"), whom they'd met through church activities; and Richard Wingo (aka "Wingo Dollar"), a late addition to the group suggested by Xscape's Kandi Burruss, who took their demo to superproducer Jermaine Dupri. Jagged Edge signed to Dupri's Columbia-distributed...
