Rare Gems Vol. 1

This CD is a selection made with 17 songs from three LP’s recorded by The Diamonds in the fifties and released by Mercury Records: 1. The “Little darlin’ ” Million Record Stars. MG 20309; 2. America’s Famous Song Stylists, MGW 12114, and 3. The Diamonds Meet Pete Rugolo SR 60076. (At that time there were comments, but no specific name for each album). The CD includes also some singles not compiled in any album: Tell the Truth, The Crumble, A Mother’s Love, Land of Beauty, Happy Years and Young in Years. It is a weird selection. It seems to be made looking for the same word in the titles: i.e. Baby, Years. If you think it would be good to recover digitalized songs, you must know that quality is very irregular. Some of them have a poor sound. There is an incomplete song in this CD. The first notes of I’ll always be in love with you are missing. Instead, you can get some good digitalizations, as Until the Real Thing Comes Along. August 27, 2007
