EDITORS’ NOTES

Bach’s chamber works require incredible agility and nuance, and this all-star team reads his monumental trios with dexterity and elegance worthy of their reputations. Chris Thile shines on the mandolin in this arrangement of the Trio Sonata No. 6, whose sequenced arpeggios and colorful runs exude folky greatness.

Must have

This is bright, crisp, and contemporary recording would certainly have had Johann himself smiling as he listened. The passion and chemistry between these three can be heard and felt. Don't hesitate, buy it!

Extremely well done

Pleasantly surprised at how beautifully the mandolin is incorporated. This is a new instrument for me to enjoy this way. The musicians have a palpable chemistry. Try to listen from beginning to end, in one sitting.

Wonderful Bach!

Unconventional? Yes. But by any measure wonderful music. Buy it and listen!
