Album Review

Best known as one half of renowned electro-dance duo Kruder & Dorfmeister, Richard Dorfmeister has often been known to branch out with other collaborators, as evidenced by such releases as 2006's Grand Slam. Pitted against a pair of Austrian gentlemen who go by the name of Madrid de los Austrias (Heinz Tronigger, aka Don Zanuste, and a chap named Pogo), Grand Slam continues in the expected Dorfmeister vein of early 21st century club/dance music. Repetition and dance beats are the main ingredients here, but unlike brain-numbing all-instrumental electronic dance tracks that seem to have ruled most dance clubs for years by now, vocals are a most welcomed addition to the proceedings. You'll be hard-pressed not to start doing your best Rerun/Fred Berry impersonation when hearing such uptempo dance ditties as "Boogie No More," "Spanish Grease," and "Make Dis Real."

Great CD

If you're already acquainted with Dorfmeister, you know he never disappoints (check out the K & D Sessions, an electronic classic). His down-tempo remixes are always top-notch, and this collaboration with MDLA is no exception. The mixes here are a little brighter and sexier than what I've heard from him before, making it a perfect laidback groove for Summer. His remix of Willie Bobo's "Spanish Grease" from the Verve Remixed series reappears here, as well as remixes of Groove Armada and Zero7. My favorites here have been "Schnitz", and, especially, "Boogie No More". I can't stop listening to that track!!

It's Worthy!!

Finally! A remix of A Taste Of Honey's Boogie Oogie Oogie that did the song justice ... well actually, more than justice! It was a bang-up job and who else could do such a great remix if none other than the great Richard Dorfmeister. Just can't get enough!

DvsMdlA is great but itunes is not

I love this fresh sound from G-Stone. Dorfmeister and Madrid de los Austrias is a great combination but the quality of the songs you buy from iTunes is very low, only 128kbps. You can't play this on any HiFi equipped stereo. Usually you get 192kbps or 320kbps on the iTunes plus. I wish this was at least an iTunes plus download. I regret spending my money here, no I'll have to look for a better quality elsewhere. Specially sound coming from these great producers. The three stars are just because of the low kbps. Otherwise the music is worth every penny.
