iTunes Review

Quiet Storm hardly died in 1978 or 1987, and it was most certainly a living thing when Brian McKnight dropped his fifth album, Back at One, in 1999. A heartfelt but often musically witty disc, it throws curveballs while never breaking Rule One — staying beautiful and as seduction-friendly as anything of its moment. McKnight acknowledges hip-hop with a Rodney “Darkchild” Jerkins production of “Played Yourself” (the one song here that allows even a possibly rude sentiment toward a woman), mixes steel guitar accents with lovely grouped harmonies on “6, 8, 12” and dabbles with Latin-lite beats on “You Could Be the One” and “Can You Read My Mind.” He even gets laughed at by his friends by appearing in public with a supposedly unsavory date on “Stay or Let It Go.” Back at One is a strong and amusing effort.

Typical Brian McKnight

This CD is just about who Brian McKnight is as an artist. He is a phenomenal artist and this CD is nothing less than a reflection of that. The hit song "Back at One" is on this CD but don't be fooled into thinking that this song is the only good song on the album. You would really be missing out on some good music if you did that. Great CD. I would recommend it to anyone who likes good R&B music.

One of the best

This is one of Brian McKnight's best albums; 6,8,12 and Back at One are possibly his two best songs. Every song serves as an example of his romantic lyrics that can touch everyone's heart 5 stars

Most of the songs are pretty good. "Back At One" is a beautiful peace which bring tears to my eyes every time I hear it. McKnights voice is absolutly amazing. Voice of an Angel

One of the most consistent and versatile adult contemporary R&B artists, Brian McKnight placed seven albums across 15 years — from the early '90s through the first decade of the 2000s — within the Top Ten of Billboard's R&B albums chart. Whether he wrote and produced for himself or collaborated with the likes of Diddy, the Underdogs, and Tim & Bob, he enjoyed moderate commercial success without ever quite becoming a superstar. This, along with a down-to-earth personality and...
