Album Review

This installment of MCA Special Products' Back to Back contains five songs apiece from the Jets and Ready for the World. Of the two, RFTW fares the best, simply because they didn't have that many hits. All three of their charting singles — "Oh Sheila," "Digital Display," "Love You Down" — are here, along with the also-rans "Tonight" and "Deep Inside Your Love." The Jets had more hits, so it isn't surprising that Top Ten hits like "Rocket 2 U" and "Make It Real" are missing. The five featured songs include "Crush on You," "You Got It All" and "Cross My Broken Heart," their three biggest early hits. The remaining two Jets cuts are simply good album tracks. Even though it isn't filled with hits, it contains enough good material to make this of interest to casual fans of both groups.

2 for 1 Deal? :-)

I admit that I'm old enough to remember all of these songs. I recommend anybody who loves 80's R&B look into getting them cause 8.99 is a good deal for two separate R&B groups on the same album. Come to think of it, itunes should try and find more MCA back-to-backs. Maybe a Bobby Brown/New Edition disc?

Riley, Gordon Strozier, Gregory Potts, Willie Triplett, John Eaton, and Gerald Valentine began on their own Blue Lake label before signing with MCA. The label reissued the song "Tonight," and it reached number six on the R&B charts in 1984. They followed it with "Deep Inside Your Love," another Top...
