iTunes Review

Released only a matter of months after Dr. Dre’s landmark The Chronic: 2001, Quik’s Balance & Options might remind one of Dre, but the album is actually a very precise demonstration of the differences between Dre and Quik. Both producers pride themselves on precisely constructed productions, strengthened by sharp grooves and sonic detail, but where Dre’s tracks can feel cold and calculated, Balance & Options is vibrant and warm. Like Dre, Quik often uses live instrumentation, and it makes all the difference on songs like “I Don’t Wanna Party Wit U.” Balance & Options is pure block party, picnic table BBQ and Coronas included. As masterful as Quik is, he never sounds agitated or over-serious on the mic; his Compton stories are less about gang threats than a laid-back lifestyle. Listen to “Did Y’all Feel Dat?” or “We Came 2 Play” or “Pinch In On A Party” and see if can’t feel the Cali sun on you neck. Quik himself sums it up on “How Come?”: “Cuz if the West be a movie, then this be the soundtrack.”

Classic Album Buy It!!!!

Now Balances and Options was a album that showed a Quik that many people haven't ever seen before. Now "Roger's Groove" was a song that I was dedicated to the late Roger Troutman who really helped Quik for a few years. Troutman is a true influense to everyone on the West and East coast. He brought the funk and lowrider song you hear in SD and LA today. Without Troutman the music industry would be very different than it is today.
Anyway, the fifth Quik's Groove is a song that has alot of soul and has a good piano play. I prefered it and hope that people take the time to listen and anlayze how the music can deliver a message to the listeners.

A classic album for the westcoast

This is at the time the best Westcoast album to come out, fresh and the DJ amd the artist holds down cali hands down in a war for what coast has the best who done it in hip hop. Quik since this album is still the best westcoast artist, musician, songwriter and beatmaker can you feel that? I'm born and raised in Cali but I do know music and gift period, and Quik is the man.

One of the premier West Coast gangsta rap artists of the early '90s, DJ Quik was a rapper as well as a producer whose career carried on well into the next decade, as he put his career aside and began working primarily as a beat-maker. Born David Martin Blake on January 18, 1970, in Compton, California, DJ Quik made a name for himself on the mixtape circuit during the late '80s, compiling tapes also featuring fellow rappers AMG, 2nd II None, and Hi-C.
