Sweet Vessel...

Being a native Pittsburgher, I am very familiar with the titan Stanley Turrentine. "Do You Have Any Sugar?" - released posthumously - is a well produced slickly engineered effort. It has been a long time since Mr. Turrentine's rich, resonant sound was equally matched with good material. Although this work was produced in the twilight of his illustrious career, his bellows are as strong as ever. The judicious use of the female vocalist (unknown) provides a welcomed complimentary refrain to a couple of Mr. Turrentines tracks. This album is equal to - if not better than - the classic "Sugar" recorded in 1970.
