iTunes Review

On their third album, Avenged Sevenfold abandon the brutalizing sounds of their previous records to mine the melodic metal of their heroes. Vocalist M. Shadows soars above The Rev’s blitzkrieg drumming and Synyster Gates’ blazing guitar leads, trading in his scream for a Chris Cornell-style approach on standout track “Seize the Day.” City of Evil is epic in scope, drawing on weighty tomes like the Book of Revelation for lyrical inspiration. Over the course of its 72 minutes, Avenged Sevenfold never falter.

This is where best of old meets best of new

I have been listening to this for a couple of months now, and I have to say this is one of the better metal albums out there. There is a great blend of the good old days when musicians had to really know how to play, and be impressive, and the new harder edge that builds these great walls of sound that comprise the "greater than the sum of it's parts" new metal. These guys are playing to their masters, but changing it enough to be interesting, original, and up to date. This is a great blend, and really catchy. Possibly the modern day "Appetite for Destruction" but that may be a bit too lofty.

He who buys this cd gets rid of the pain of being a man

Avenged Sevenfold pulls off the Metal/Punk fusion, making an awesome cd from beginning to end. My favorite tracks are "Beast and the Harlot", "Burn It Down" and "Bat Country", although they are all pretty sweet. Definetly worth it.

This CD is off the hizzy!!

The highly anticipated 3rd album from Avenged Sevenfold is just what it is expected to be: Awesome!!!! Jam packed with 11 songs all over 5 minutes, this makes for a great CD and a great buy. If you want a CD that offers addicting songs that you mind getting stuck in your head, then this is the CD for you. "Burn it Down", "Seize the Day" and "Strength of the World" all prove to be just that. I have owned this CD from the first day it came out and I am still not tired of it. BUY THIS CD!!!!!!! 2 thumbs up!!

One of the more successful and accessible metalcore outfits to come out of the early 2000s, Avenged Sevenfold endured changes both stylistic and internal during their rise from teenage troublemakers to mainstream success story. The members of Avenged Sevenfold (or A7X) were still attending high school in Huntington Beach, California when they formed their band in 1999. Nevertheless, it didn't take long for M. Shadows (vocals), Zacky Vengeance (guitar), Synyster Gates (guitar), the Reverend (drums),...
