Music for Everything

I am a huge Casey Shea fan--me and my friend Cassie saw him live and fell in love with his music! Some of my favorite songs are on this album (Chelsea, Can't Get Enough, and No Son of Ours). It's one of those albums you can play anytime, anyplace, and it just feels right. He has an easy-going old-school rocker vibe that is just awesome. All around feel good, awesome musician that I highly recommend.

Come for the vibe, stay for the music.

Casey Shea's newest album is perfect road trip music and a great collection of songs for days when you need something to cheer you up. Do yourself a favor and buy this album. (If you need one song to convince you to get the whole album, definitely get "It Is What It Is".)

"In Your Head," "Jennifer," and "Can't Get Enough" are solid rock-out tracks. "Let It Slide" and "It Is What It Is" are simultaneously dark and mellow. "Chelsea" is an unabashedly silly appeal to Chelsea Clinton's affections, yet it is still a catchy and well-constructed song. "No Son of Ours" and "I Don't Know Why" have a groove, an almost oldies vibe.

In my opinion, "Battery" is the only weak track on the album as far as writing goes, but it's still infused with the energy that carries all of Casey Shea's work to a higher level.

If you're a fan of musicians who can smoothly blend genres and still maintain their own voice, this is the album and artist for you! Casey Shea is great live, too!

Buy this album.

This album is so great because listening to it makes me feel like being American isn't all that embarassing, and is maybe even a unique and worthwhile experience. I know that seems like a joke, but I mean it. On the surface Casey's songs carry these really rich optimistic images of lost loves and dusty roads, and it's only when you listen again, and closer, that you find a deep nostalgia for simpler times and ways of being. It kind of takes you away in a swell. And then it ends and you really wish it hadn't. So you listen again.
