iTunes Review

British singer/songwriter Lucy Rose made her presence known as the female vocalist on Bombay Bicycle Club albums before starting a solo career that's earned comparisons to critics’ favorite Laura Marling. Where Marling chose the acoustic-folky road, Rose is interested in seeing what a band can do for her emotionally resonant compositions. To keep things relaxed for her major-label debut, she recorded the album in the basement of her parents’ house. This gives the album an intimacy in key spots, but tracks such as “Lines,” “Watch Over," and “First” build into folk-based pop songs that show no lack of fidelity or grandeur where necessary. The broken heart guiding these songs shows a glimmer of hope on the album’s beautifully orchestrated “official” closer, “Be Alright.” The deluxe edition includes “Little Brave” and the three non-LP tracks from the Middle of the Bed EP.

Mushi-shi (Sequel Series) Opening

I heard the song Shiver as the opening song for the new Mushi-shi series. As the previous opening theme song it fits well with the story telling and art design. The entire album is really worth a listen.

I had listened to Lucy Rose's music for about half a year before I saw her live in Salt Lake City, and she was fantastic. She sounds exactly the same live as she does on her album (which I love). I enjoyed her music even more after having seen her perform. I don't think I could imagine a more perfect singing voice. Don't hesitate to buy!

I am always on the look out for musicians that have a similar sound to this. It is harder to find than you’d think. She has a beautiful voice and is a wonderful musician. I am in love with this album and I have only heard each song maybe once.

Lucy Rose is a singer/songwriter from Warwickshire, England. Originally, Rose began playing drums in her school orchestra. When that didn't satisfy her creative ambition, she began playing and writing songs on the piano in her parents' house. She later bought a guitar and began to write pastoral, folk-inspired pop music. It wasn't until she left home -- after deferring a place at University College of London -- when she was 18 that she shared her material with anybody. Her fragile, emotive songs...
