Competing on equal ground with the earlier compilation Contraband: The Best of Men at Work, The Essential Men at Work features 14 of the iconic '80s band's most memorable tracks. Given the inconsistent quality of Men at Work's three '80s releases, casual listeners simply looking for "that one tune where that guy carries around the stuffed koala bear in the video" will not be disappointed. All the major hits are here, including "Down Under," "Be Good Johnny," and "Who Can It Be Now?," as well as lesser-known album tracks. This is about all the Men at Work you'll ever need.

Classic 80s pop

These songs began the CD age, synthesized, electric, pop with excellent vocals by Scotsman Colin Hay. Although the Essentials is missing a few good songs from the debut album, there is enough quality sounding music to justify the cost.
