Editors’ Notes

American Idol contestant Allison Iraheta's debut album Just Like You shows hints of where this talented vocalist is likely headed as she matures and develops her own style. “Friday I’ll Be Over U” opens with heaps of Kelly Clarkson’s tough girl spunk under layers of distorted synthesizers and hip dance beats. And if the brooding rocker “No One Else” sounds somewhat reminiscent of Pink, that’s because Pink actually had a hand in writing it. While Iraheta recorded Just Like You at 17, her muscular sounding voice reveals a mature soul that’s overflowing with personality. She also likes to rock — American Idol devotees may remember her ambitiously taking on Foghat’s “Slow Ride” and Heart’s “Baricuda” — but here her love for the classics reveals itself on “Robot Love” where she dares to boast a prominent Gary Glitter sample from “Rock and Roll (Part 2)” and the soulful “Scars” sounds influenced by Bonnie Raitt.

Allison Murdered Adam Lambert and Kris Allen

Allison Iraheta just proved that she should have won American Idol. This is one of the STRONGEST Debuts I've ever heard from an American Idol Contestants. The Buzz was positive about this album and critics have really been raving about it. I downloaded it entirely and It's FANTASTIC! Not a single DUD on the album. 5 Stars. I honestly think she'll remain UNDERRATED because America is stupid, but this album is Fantastic. She deserves all the credit of a winner.

Best album of 2009

I honestly have never heard a better, more concise album in my life. Welcome to the music world Allison! This is what everyone should be buying, over Kris, and over Adam (who I love). This truly is a masterpiece, and I just hope that people have enough sense to buy this album and help it shoot to the top of the charts. It deserves to be at number 1.

Give This Girl Better Materials!

If Kelly Clarkson were to release a b-side collection (songs that aren't good enough to make an album), this would be it.

Not exactly bad songs but ain't good either. Nothing stands out, it's just all very average. Allison has a wonderful voice and she deserves better material.

I'm guessing they aren't exactly looking to forward her career but to make easy money off what's left of her popularity from her Idol days.

Boasting mature, rock-influenced vocals that belied her young age, 17 year-old Allison Iraheta became the most popular female in American Idol's 2009 season. The daughter of Salvadorian parents, she logged numerous performances in the Latino community before her multi-month run on Idol, even winning a bilingual singing competition on the Telemundo network in 2006. American Idol proved to be her launching pad, however, as she finished in fourth place behind contenders Danny Gokey, Adam Lambert, and...
