Album Review

This is a bootleg album, released by Frank Zappa without enhancement, and also available as part of the Beat the Boots! box set. The performance is a live show from Stockholm recorded on August 21, 1973, with the exception of one track recorded in Sydney in July 1973. The band, featuring Jean-Luc Ponty, George Duke, and Ruth Underwood, is one of Zappa's more jazz-oriented, and the selections, including "Redunzl" and "Dupree's Paradise," are among Zappa's more involved instrumentals. Sound quality is good.

Customer Reviews

Instrumental Masterpiece, Top-Flight Band, Excellent Performances

Anyone who likes Zappa in the least will at the very least come to love this record. The music exemplifies Zappa's unique style as a composer, and every musician turns out great chops. Of course, Jean Luc-Ponty is a tremendous asset to any band, and he seems to be having a great time here. This is one of the coolest, most stylish, and most elegantly and groovingly instrumental Zappa disks ever. Get it, you won't regret it.
