Album Review

Again working with pianist/arranger Bill Douglas, Richard Stoltzman concentrates on moving classical music into new age territory on Open Sky. It's not that different from his average release, but it does have a more meditative quality which is quite appealing.

Clarinet dreamin'

Years ago, I was browsing in a bookstore in Philadelphia when Richard Stoltzman's brilliant "Begin Sweet World" began to play. I found myself completely transfixed with tears in my eyes. I've been a fan of his ever since. You simply cannot go wrong with Stoltzman, regardless of what he's playing.


I have been listening to this album for almost 30 years and have never grown tired of it. It is timeless, beautiful, and enchanting as all music should be.
