Album Review

Appearing a mere four years after “Sugar, We’re Goin Down” turned Fall Out Boy into genuine rock stars, and covering a mere four albums, 2009’s Believers Never Die: The Greatest Hits smacks of a contractual obligation or a rush holiday treat: something to close out a contract or get a piece of product into stores during the Christmas season. Regardless of the motivation, Believers Never Die winds up as a surprisingly addictive hits record, a hyper-charged testament to Fall Out Boy’s grandiosely self-deprecating, self-aware emo-pop. Taking loud fast rules to a stylized extreme, Believers Never Die cuts away any remnants of slow songs — the acoustic guitars and lack of drums on “Yule Shoot Your Eyes Out,” one of four new songs or rarities, gives the illusion that it’s slower than it is — FOB pile up hooks and words with a smirky abandon, the sincerity of singer Patrick Stump and sarcasm of bassist/lyricist Pete Wentz tied together by a shared love of arena punk: guitars from Van Halen, melodies from Queen, outlook from the alt-rock revolution. Their Gen-Y sensibilities — not just the ceaseless snark and "I Love the ‘80s" name-drops, but their love of brick-walled production — can alienate old guys over 30, but give Believers Never Die a little time; the hooks burrow deep and Fall Out Boy seem like one of the quintessential mainstream rock singles bands of the 2000s.

Fall Out Boy will never die!!!

Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls of all ages, all those critics who favor and oppose gather round and listen to the milestone arrangement of songs featured on Fall Out Boy's newest album! To all those who ask "where did the old Fall Out Boy go?" open your ears and listen to the progression of one of music's most unique and talented singers of all time. From the emo sound of Take This To Your grave, the punk of From Under The Corktree, The Pop Punk of Infinity on High and the genius behind Folie A Deux. With this CD Fall Out Boy solidifies its place in history as one of the greatest talents of our generation and with new songs like the CitizenFOB familar "Alpha Dog" to the pop sounding "From Now on We Are Enemies" we have much to look forward to! Patrick's voice has gotten better and better from album to album providing a unique new song with each and shows no signs of stopping! We can only hope that Fall Out Boy allows Patrick to completly open up those pipes with some oldies style tunes like Otis Redding's "These Ams of Mine" or Marvin Gayes' "Let's Get It on" and truly show the broad range of his talent. Great job guys and congrats on your success throughout the years and let's keep the ball rolling, I'm feeling new album in August!

Believers Never Die!

Great collection froman amazing band, From Now On We Are Enemies is what I stayed up for, doesn't disappoint! I can't wait til they go off hiatus and make more songs!

Never Die. <3

This album is amazing!

I was a bit surprised when they came out with a GH collection, but it's worth every penny, Deluxe Edition or not.
And most of the songs are very well known, which makes it so much better. It's so great to finally have all of my favorite Fall Out Boy songs in one place!

I highly recommend this album to ANYONE! =)

Fall Out Boy rose to the forefront of emo pop in the mid-2000s, selling more than four million albums thanks to the band's tabloid-grabbing bassist, able-voiced frontman, and handful of Top 40 hits.
