Even better live

Immediately bought the album after hearing Canoe live at a tiny venue on a cold miserable night in mid-February in Logan, Utah. The audience sat on the floor--just inches from the stage--and Canoe totally rocked the place. The town was a brighter, warmer place because of the show. As much as I love the album, the band was even better live. Don't miss a chance to see them in person if you have the opportunity. Canoe's music has all the best characteristics of indie-folk-rock. Honest, poetic lyrics; a generous cross-polination of all musical genres; quirky combinations; and great musicianship. Some of the bass runs (e.g. "My Four Seasons") will leave you slack jawed. And when was the last time you heard a xylophone make a real difference in a band? They are also smart enough to draw from music other than their own. Case in point: Canoe’s cover of “Holland, 1945" one ups the original. As has been mentioned earlier--don't hesitate to jump into the Canoe.

Very Sophisticated

I have been a music critic for many years now, and it is always extremely intriguing to find bands that are just starting to kick off. Especially when you find bands such as "Canoe". The music in this album is amazing if i do say so myself. The vocals/singer in this group is quite talented and once more people begin to find out about this group they will do very well. Every aspect of this group is solid and harmonize perfectly to your ears.

Climb into the Canoe

I first heard the song Drip, Drip, Drop on the radio during a time of distress. It's soothing introduction easily caught my ear and relaxed my mind. The transition to the catchy melody at the end of the song got me hooked. The rest of the songs on the CD are no exception: from Holland, 1945 to Anxious Jenny, I continue to find more and more reasons to play this refreshing album. While I'm no good with names, I'll forever remember Canoe as the ship that sailed out of the radio and into my heart.
