Album Review

Six Feet Under's debut album, Haunted, promised to be an exciting collaboration between Cannibal Corpse vocalist Chris Barnes and Obituary guitarist Allen West, and by and large it lives up to its promise. After all, it's hard to go wrong with Barnes, one of the best vocalists in stateside death metal, West, a veteran guitarist who had anchored one of the genre's leading bands, and producer Scott Burns, the most accomplished death metal producer in the industry. Six Feet Under points toward a bright future for this very dark band.

Brutal!

If you need a change from blast beats but still want very brutal and heavy then this CD is a must have!

this is awsome

this cd is a must have for sft fans lycanthropy is one of the best songs out there

One of my favorite death metal albums.

I have loved this CD for more than a decade. It features the former vocalist of Cannibal Corpse and former guitarist of obituary. It is midtempo, groove oriented death metal with cookie monster vocals, melodic guitar solos, memorable riffs, and vocal hooks that actually make me want to sing along. Here's a representative lyric from Remains of You: "I took an axe to your head chopping rotted flesh. Brain is seeping from the cracks in your skull. Blood drains from holes in your torso. I took your life from you." All of the songs are about death, dismemberment, mutilation, and other forms of violence; but this CD is surprisingly poppy given the subject matter. Gotta love it!

Originally a side project for Cannibal Corpse vocalist Chris Barnes and former Obituary guitarist Allen West, Six Feet Under eventually became a full-time proposition when friction between Barnes and his other bandmates became too much to bear. Featuring ex-Death bassist Terry Butler and drummer Greg Gall in the rhythm section, Six Feet Under issued their debut album, Haunted, in 1995. Barnes subsequently quit Cannibal Corpse, and Six Feet Under issued the stopgap EP Alive and Dead in 1996 to tide...
