Bridge Music

It's fascinating what Mr. Bertolezzi has done with Bridg Music. Just read the brochure that explains the music. He has sampled the sounds of the bridge, organized and assigned them to a computer - keyboard I presume - then he writes the music using the Bridge's Sounds. Fastastic - innovative - I love it. The Mid Hudson Bridge if my favorite bridge of the Hudson. I do not know why no one hasn't done a photo shoot of it for post cards - the various color/light displays which occur every night are so beautiful. Sometimes I drive across the bridge just to see what color it is. Mr. Bertolezzi's Bridge Music can be heard on a special channel on your FM radio in the park adjacent to the bridge and at 2 listening stations on the bridge walkway - What a fantastic idea - and a great sounding piece. listen to the sounds of the bridge

I read about joseph Bertolezzi in The Christian Science Monitor. He plays the bridge with instruments to create beautiful and unique sounds. It is inspiring work that is different. It is well worth the listen.

Exuberant and hypnotic

Learned about this work from a NY Times article a couple years back, and was excited to see that it had finally made it to fruition. The Mid-Hudson bridge is a beautiful bridge, but looking at it certainly does not suggest the kinds of sounds that can evidently be coaxed from it! By far the best way to enjoy this music is to walk out onto the bridge and press the buttons on the listening stations that have been installed, so you can listen to it together with the rushing cars and trains, and the breeze of the Hudson. However, it's a fun listen even on headphones, and easy to forget that all of these plinks and plunks are coming from a hulking piece of steel. Especially recommended: "Bridge Funk" and "Bright Interlude".
