iTunes Editors’ Notes

Even though he's five albums and 10 years into a wildly successful recording career, Gavin DeGraw remains a creatively restless character, discontent to rest on his laurels. With his sleek blend of soulful, hook-laden pop, DeGraw hasn't stood still since his theme for One Tree Hill brought him a huge prime-time audience. The singer/songwriter leads an unpredictable, adventurous chase across Make a Move, where he opens with a sharp social critique (the foot-stomping "Best I Ever Had") before offering an antidote to post-breakup blues (the sleek soul-pop burner "Heartbreak") and a mournful post-party power ballad ("Finest Hour"). By turns soulful, sultry, and sugary, DeGraw's fifth studio album shows he's a songwriter with lasting star power.

He's stretched musically to combine his always perfect lyrics. And when those two things come together with Gavin's beautiful voice, your heart can't help but sing.

Prodigy.

I met Clive Davis at PHX airport some years ago. Out of all the names he's signed: Janis, Bruce, Maroon5, I thanked him for signing YOU.

Overproduced

What happened to the young Gavin DeGraw who showed hints of Billy Joel and Elton John? This is overproduced, Train-like cheese pop. Clearly, he's still aiming for the 20 year old female demographic. Disappointing.
