Album Review

Best of Carl Smith is a 12-track budget-priced collection that features some of his biggest late-'70s hits, including "Roly Poly," "If You Don't, Somebody Else Will," "A Way with Words," "Show Me a Brick Wall," "This Kinda Love Ain't Meant for Sunday School," "The Way I Lose My Mind," and "This Lady Loving Me." Although this isn't a bad budget-priced disc, there are far better collections available, offering more songs and better sound for not much more money.

Time's awastin'

Ok- heres the deal. Carl Smith is ok and all, but i just saw the movie walk the line, and parts of the song Time's Awastin' were sung. Apparently, that song wasn't fully sang and isn't on the soundtrack because Carl Smith owns the rights to the song. So it's assumed that since Carl Smith owns the rights, you would be able to find the song under his name, sang with June Carter and him- NOPE! Since I can't get it on itunes, does anyone know of a CD I can get with that song on it? Or maybe if it is on itunes, what i should look under... Help me pleez!

i like LOVE OH CRAZY LOVE. but weres TIMES A WASTIN . its not even on WALK THE LINE soundtrack.

Carl Smith Is One of the Best

It's not too hard to find good Carl Smith tunes; they're all pretty high quality, even his later stuff. As for those asking about Carl Smith and June Carter's version of "Times A-Wastin'," check out youtube. You'll find it there. And yes, it is a great tune.

Known as Mr. Country, Carl Smith was one of the most popular honky tonkers of the '50s, racking up over 30 Top Ten hits over the course of the decade. Smith was also able to sustain that popularity into the late '70s, during which time he had a charting single for every year except one. Smith had a talent for singing smooth ballads which polished the rough edges of hardcore country. Nevertheless, he could sing pure honky tonk with the best of them, and his hardest country was made tougher by the...
