In a fairer world, Jerry Butler's early musical accomplishments would have landed him on the lucrative supper club circuit, with steady gigs in Las Vegas, a variety television show, and movie deals. Yet, despite possessing a classy baritone, a cool demeanor, and a squeaky-clean image, he never got his just dues. This brief CD — only ten selections — provides a good glossy of Butler's recording origins, beginning with "For Your Precious Lord" (done with the Impressions) and including many classics such as "I Stand Accused," "He Will Break Your Heart," "Moon River," "Make It Easy on Yourself," and "Let It Be Me," a duet with Betty Everett.
