Album Review

Ah, nothing like a little bit of noise. But what about a whole lot of noise? Agoraphobic Nosebleed's double-disc compilation, Bestial Machinery, definitely falls under the latter category. Longtime grindcore favorites, this Massachusetts outfit has been led from the beginning by mastermind Scott Hull, who supplies all the rapid-fire guitar and drum programming and, along with Jay Randall, has been known to holler into a mic from time to time. Before the release of several underground favorites (including such aural pleasures as 2002's Frozen Corpse Stuffed with Dope), Agoraphobic Nosebleed released countless tracks early on, many of which managed to slip through the cracks (which isn't much of a surprise, as most of their tracks don't even make the one-minute mark). Bestial Machinery manages to collect over 130 rare tracks (!), from split singles, compilations, and even tracks that never saw the light of day. With each track blending/bludgeoning it's way into the next, individual standouts are near impossible to pick. Highly recommended to those who like to use heavy metal as a weapon.

I have no idea how I could listen to the whole album nonstop without my brain imploding, but that's the point of the album: total excess.

One hell of a band, one hell of an album

It's so good, it'll only leave you with 5% control of your brain once you're done with the whole album.

i dont even like this music but its just insane

Formed: 1994

Genre: Rock

Years Active: '90s, '00s

Headed by guitarist/bassist/drum programmer Scott Hull (also of Pig Destroyer and formerly of A.C. as well), grindcore nut-cases Agoraphobic Nosebleed have existed in various forms since 1994. Their bleak, punishing sound mixes together caustic vocals, harsh (and inhumanly fast) drum-machine beats, and Hull's Earache-schooled guitar riffing. Their songs are short and compact, in most cases clocking in at less than a minute long. Their lyrics are often as unorthodox and/or inscrutable as the band's...
