iTunes Review

The son of Crowded House frontman Neil Finn, Liam Finn isn’t afraid to work the very same fertile pop music ground as his dad. Blessed as another sparkling clean pop tenor, Finn gets right to work and matches one genetic gift with another, offering up strong pop tunes that showcase his talents in the most beneficial light. There’s an eerie psychedelic quality to the production, as the crunchy, distorted electric guitars of “This Place is Killing Me” underline the gently strummed acoustics and the harmonies seem to fall from the sky and swoon over the actual melody. This careful attention to detail provides a rich counterpoint to Finn’s natural hooks. The dreamlike trance and marshaled harmonies of the title track, the smooth pop veneer of “Wise Man,” and the quiet resonance of “Gather to the Chapel” are the sounds of a man clearly apprenticed in the finer tricks of the trade. Liam Finn lines up as another multi-talented studio rat who knows how to color within the lines with finesse.

This is a great album

This was my favorite for 2007. Melodic, Tuneful and Original. Somewhere between Crowded House, The Finn Brothers and Beck. It sounds fresh and equal to anything else including the reformed recent Crowded House album. Its been played everyday for about 6 weeks. This version is 5 tracks lighter than its Australian/NZ counterpart and slightly more commercial although I prefer the longer version. Better to Be, Gather to the Chapel, Lullaby,Wide Awake on the Voyage home are all standouts. But this is one of those rare albums that sounds great played end to end and captures a moment in time. You will put this on in 20 years time and remember where you first heard it. Download it. Enjoy and wait expectantly for the next one.

It makes me feel like I've always wanted to make love on a rainy grass. Wonderfull.

Can't Get It Out of Your Head (One Good Album)

Amazing amazing amazing album. The songs just flow along with his voice and lyrics. Great lyrics and melodies follow. Please take a listen. This is a true artist right here. Some good tracks: 2.) Second Chance (My favorite), 4.) Lead Balloon, 6.) Lullaby, 10.) Wise Men (Also my fav), 14.) Shadow of Your Man. The all are pretty much amazing but those are the standouts for me. ENJOY!

The son of Crowded House and Split Enz frontman Neil Finn, Liam Finn succeeded in making a name for himself, first as the teenage frontman of the quirky rock band Betchadupa and, several years later, as a talented solo artist in his own right. Formed after he met bandmate Matt Eccles during a beach holiday with his family, Betchadupa recorded two EPs and two albums -- The Alphabetchadupa in 2002 and Aiming for Your Head in 2004 -- before taking an informal break, with Finn returning to New Zealand...
