iTunes Review

Proof they know their way around the studio as well as the stage. Retaining producer Bob Ezrin (who helmed 2014’s Fuego), Big Boat streamlines the band’s relaxed, funk- and gospel-inflected classic rock without crushing its playful essence. Though there are moments of darkness (“Home,” “Waking Up Dead”), the band sounds strongest in the light, particularly the uplifting “Blaze On” and “Tide Turns,” which takes on Al Green’s Memphis via the band’s own woody Vermont.
