Album Review

Even though none of the singles matched the chart performances of "Wait" or "When the Children Cry," and even though it runs a bit long, Big Game is still a worthy follow-up to Pride. There are two major MTV hits present, a Van Halen-ized version of Golden Earring's "Radar Love" and "Little Fighter," an ode to Greenpeace.

Customer Reviews

Good album, but not quite enough

The main problem with Big Game was that it followed White Lion's masterpiece Pride and did not manage to fulfill the high expectations people had. The band just seems slightly unfocused, for lack of a better word. Sure, there are plenty of good songs here, such as Little Fighter, Living on the Edge, or the moving Cry for Freedom. Vito Bratta was on top of his game, just listen to Let's Get Crazy. Still, none of the songs quite reached the best moments on Pride, and songs such as Dirty Woman or Baby Be Mine are pure fillers. Mike Tramp later stated that the band was a tad too content and cocky when they recorded Big Game and that statement rings true with me.

The group originally formed in 1983 and despite several bassists and drummers coming and going (including future Black Sabbath and Great White bass player Dave Spitz), the group managed to issue a debut, Fight to Survive, on the independent metal label Grand...
