Album Review

More Greatest Hits is a straight reissue of the 1961 LP on Columbia. While classic material like "El Paso" and "Don't Worry" are included, the main focus of this set is Robbins' gunfighter ballads: "Red River Valley," "Streets of Laredo," and "Ballad of the Alamo." This is a short program at only 11 tracks, and considering the vast array of solid discs encompassing Marty Robbins' full spectrum of hits, this is recommended to completists only.

Love this album

My Dad probably still has this, and I grew up listnening to it. Marty had such a great voice, smooth and rich and much better than the typical country singer of his time. All these songs take me back to being a little kid. Big Iron is a good song that isn't one you typically think of, alongside the obvious ones like El Paso, Streets of Laredo or Ballad of the Alamo.

To his credit, Robbins rarely followed trends but often took off in directions that stunned both his peers and fans. Plainly Robbins was not hemmed in by anyone's definition of country music. Although his earliest recordings were unremarkable weepers,...
