Liz Miller: Plenty in the Tank

     

Well there is certainly "plenty in the tank" with this great CD. Liz is a singer/songwriter who has won multiple songwriting awards and has had songs cut. If you ever want to know who the people are who write for the Nashville artists, well this is a great place to start. Although some of these songs have already been cut by artists, you may someday hear some of them being sung by the really BIG guns, and this is how it all gets started. You write a great song, you get it "demo"ed and you pitch it to the artists. In this specific case, Liz has done the demo herself by singing and producing her own CD! Two birds with one stone! Even though she is looking to be a writer to the artists, she may get noticed as being an artist too. The melody and lyrics are great, and exactly what you want to be doing as a pitching songwriter. But her vocals really hammer it home. Sample some of the tracks and you will see what I am talking about. I give it 5 stars because the CD is excellent in doing what it is intended: A self produced CD/demo of great original songs being pitched to artists/TV/Film. In my opinion, this is exactly the right way to do it. If you are a songwriter with ambitions of pitching, you need to be listening to this as a lesson in the method. Liz used to get all of her songs "demo"ed by a professional vocalists / musicians, but it looks like she can do the job all by herself.
