Classic small group Krupa!

If you are one of the many who believes that Gene Krupa was just a big band drummer from the 1930's, think again.

Krupa's work for Norman Granz from the late 40's to early 1960's is an often overlooked period of fabulous drumming and wonderful small group jazz. Krupa's playing is very muscial and tasteful, and yet GK still delivers thrilling drums solos and continues to swing as few ever have.

This particular album showcases Gene and his quartet from Chicago's London House in 1959.

The album features a tight, swinging band, playing some well thought out arrangements. All the songs are winners, a few personal favorites of mine include: Sweet Georgia Brown, Drum Boogie, Don't Be That Way, and of course the title track.

amazing how this guy plays. if you look at kieth moon, the drumer from the who and mr. krupa, then you see this strange simularity in thier playing and how they act when they play. this guy is awsome.

For a session in 1927 with the McKenzie-Condon Chicagoans, he became the first musician...
