Why, as in "Why did John Sykes not rise to the success of other guitar gods of his era?" He is amazing, and his voice isn't bad either.

This collection is a nice sampling of his work, but I would recommend buying the albums these songs come from because these aren't the best songs. I don't know who picked the tracks for this but they don't truly showcase what Sykes is capable of. Buy "Blue Murder", or "Nothin' But Trouble", or some more recent work "20th Century" or "Nuclear Cowboy", or for a change of pace "Loveland", which shows off his voice more than guitar, as the title may lead you to believe. And, you can never go wrong with purchasing "Whitesnake '87", probably his best work - although still a thorn in both his and Coverdale's side. Their animosity towards eachother negatively affected us listeners. If they could've kept it together there is no telling how big they would have been. Enjoy this collection or any of the above.
