A nice blend of different styles

Maaya Sakamoto's 2001 collaboration with composer Yoko Kano delivers seven very different tracks, beginning with the electroic influneced Inori and ending with the powerful and more organic birds. Other styles include the r&b styled bittersweet (which sounds exactly like the types of songs that Utada Hikaru was releasing in the early 2000s), and the hearbreakingly beautiful piano ballad Another Grey Day in the Big Blue World, which is worth the cost of the album alone. The majority of the tracks, as the title of the mini would suggest, are pretty laid back with birds and doreddo 39 being the two exceptions.

Although Easy Listening may not possess any of Maaya's big anime songs, there are plenty of really good tracks to appreciate here (my favoritres bing Inori, Another Grey Day in the Big Blue World, and birds). Some songs may come together better then others (doreddo 39 is kind of a mess), but it's certainly worth a listen. Now if only itunes would carry more of Maaya's fantastic albums that I am perfectly willing to throw my money at.
