iTunes Review

Physical Graffiti is, perhaps, Led Zeppelin's most visceral offering. The expansive double album mixes fresh recordings with unreleased cuts held over from previous projects, but all 15 tracks hit home with swaggering confidence. The opening cut, "Custard Pie," is all about vicious, guttural guitar riffs meeting some of Robert Plant's most blues-inspired lyrics. The 11-minute "In My Time of Dying" is a heady, epic workout, while the unstoppable "Kashmir" is sparked by one of the most taut and menacing intros in all of rock.

Necessary

It has been called the hardest hard rock record ever made. This is true.
Yet it also has some of Zeppelin's most relaxing and laid back sounds.
A necessary record, not optional.

A masterpiece of rock music

This is the iconic Led Zeppelin album. My favorite Zep album is actually III. But this is the greatest set of songs on any given album in rock history. Love it today as the first day it came out in '75. I saw Zep 6 times, in my youth. This album is masterful

Hammer of the gods for sure

Last of the truly great albums as a whole from this legendary group. I used to think that there was too much filler (still do) and if they'd selected the best 9 or 10 songs and released this as a single album, it would be their greatest of all time. Then I'd talk to someone who felt the same but "Boogie with Stu" or one of the others that I considered throw-aways would be their favorite cut on the album. So....now I'd recommend just getting the whole thing and see which numbers you love right away and which ones grow on you ( or not ). Led Zep is not an ordinary band. Their music is (was) so diverse that it touches many emotions and affects different people in different ways.

Years Active: '60s, '70s, '80s, '90s, '00s

What the Beatles were to the '60s, Led Zeppelin were to the '70s: a band so successful and innovative they wound up creating the prism through which their entire epoch was seen. Zeppelin ushered in the era of album rock -- they refused to release singles off their albums, even when they were garnering massive radio play -- and of arena rock, playing ever-larger stadiums as their ticket sales skyrocketed. Other bands played on a similar field but Led Zeppelin carried a unique mystique cultivated by...
