Reseña de álbum

Having lost their way somewhat with the overtly commercial and carefree Faith Hope Love, King's X tried to regain lost momentum with their eponymous fourth release. The album explores the darker side of their songwriting with mixed results, often over-compensating for the cheerfulness of its predecessor at the expense of the courageous experimentation for which the band had become known. The unprecedented aggression in the opener "The World Around Me" illustrates the band taking stock of this new challenge and fighting back, while the first single, "Black Flag," clearly displays their fresh no-nonsense approach. The excellent "Prisoner" and "Lost in Germany" are also standouts, and despite its confusing lyrics, closer "Silent Wind" manages to put a positive spin on things. Other interesting moments include the wistful "Dream in My Life" and the somber "Ooh Song," which harkens back to days past with its prog rock feel and use of space.

Being a fan of King's X for over 12 years now (I started listening to them when I was 13!) I have to say, this is the one album that never gets old for me. Just yesterday, I popped it in my CD player and turned it up, and sang to to the top of my lungs--every word, and every song. You know, people always complain "Why did they not get mainstream sucess" well screw that! King's X is transcends the junk that has been on the radio, and they are far greater musicians, artists to be among those people. Had they shown up in the 70's with the Rock Gods, I think things would have been much different. But this album, is what a devoted fan, like me-- thinks what King's X is. The album starts out full blast, "The World Around Me", Picks up with the Soulful "Prisoner", and then continues one after another of Solid Jams like "Lost in Germany", "Ooh Song", "What I know about love" and closes with the upbeat, "Silent Wind".
Will the masses stumble upon King's X, in the future and see what a musical treasure these 3 guys from Texas were? Most likely not. But for those willing to take a trip and open their mind to the greatest band on earth...take a seat, and let the groove take over.

Be inspired..listen very carefully...this is inspired music.

Outa Texas...
Kings X is the most complete hard rock trio in the history of American music.
And there's a million or more of us who feel the same.
Whether or not billboard agrees is meaningless.

I mean Milli Vanilli and VAnilla Ice have had number one doesn't matter.
What matters is this...

This is what it means to make your life music and make music that touches lives.
This is what real musicians sound like.
3 men create a wall of sound and it's this great sound that is replicated live my friends.

Just good, great, inspiring music played by superior musicians.
There ya go.

Out of all the kings albums, this one is my favorite.

Thank you kings x. Remember who you are I always will.

buy the album support great music.

One of KIng's X Best

I rank this album right behind "Dogman" as my favorite King's X album. In my mind. "Dogman" is the best hard rock album in history, so no album is as good as that one, but "King's X" is a must own for any music fan.

Few hard rock bands are as widely respected yet criminally overlooked as King's X. The trio (bassist/vocalist Doug Pinnick, guitarist/vocalist Ty Tabor, and drummer/vocalist Jerry Gaskill) seemed destined for the big time with their irresistible blend of melodic Beatlesque harmonies, metallic riffing, and prog rock detours, yet for reasons unknown, never truly broke through to a mainstream audience. Pinnick (b. September 3, 1950) first met Gaskill (b. December 27, 1957) when the duo was touring with...
