A unique, if a little bumpy, acoustic ride.

"Short and sweet" would be an easy way to describe this 7-track album. "Blackbird On Gray Sky" and "Beautiful Here" are the only songs with lyrics - the rest are purely instrumental. Dark but pleasant melodies are the theme here, with the cello being a main player in the works. It's a pleasant, dim ride, but not really a smooth one. BF/BS occasionally tries to jumble up their instruments, in what I guess is an attempt to give a dark or jagged ambience. However it comes a little short and sometimes winds up sounding like they tried to read music in a pitch black room. But, except for the 9-minute garble that is "Sunday Market", this is usually a brief and fleeting attempt and you don't have to put up with it for very long. The songs are smooth, even rich at times, and you can really get lost in the feel of them. This album is definitely worth a listen. 4 stars.
