Whirling Dervish

This is from Christy's wilder days, one man on a stage with an acoustic guitar that sounds like a 5 man band. He makes you get up and sing along and sit down and listen, really listen, to his songs. "I spent 3 days writin it would'nt listen?" He ad libs and changes the words to his songs to suit the day or mood. This is a must listen to CD.
Fairytale of NY is his tribute to Shane McGowan and the Pogues. He tells a story and sings that song fantastically! Delirium Tremens is stream of consciousness song that needs to listend to over and over again to get the jokes and innuendoes he is adding to an already great song. He slows it down for Black is the Color, Cliffs of Dooneen, Ride On, and Nancy Spain. He does a fantastic Bodhran solo on The Well Below the Valley. My favorites are Natives, Missing You and Go, Move, Shift they are done masterfully on this live recording. There are some funny story songs that he is famous for on here too, Casey and Joxer goes to Stuttgart.
This is a great CD and should be part of any Irish music fan's library! Slainte!

As an Irish man living in the USA this is the album I listen to to get back to my roots

Christy Moore!

By far the best irish folk singer I've ever heard, with a voice as rich as honey nectar.
