iTunes Review

The World in Your Eyes collects Loop's early 12" singles, its EPs, stray compilation tracks, and rare demos. In many aspects, it's the best way to hear the group. It encompasses Loop's career and features the band stretching out and experimenting even more than on its proper albums. The 16 Dreams 12" features the earliest incarnation of the group, with original drummer Beki "Bex" Stewart challenging The Velvet Underground's Maureen Tucker for most primitive pounder; the near-10-minute "Burning World" simulates a throbbing headache while Robert Hampson twiddles with the amp knobs, finding more feedback at every twist. The EPs Spinning, Collision, and Black Sun show evolution but remain true to Hampson's obscure roots, with a 1988 cover of Can's "Mother Sky" introducing a new generation to the German Krautrockers. Most excitedly, this collection rescues Loop's Nick Drake cover ("Pink Moon") and its Neil Young cover ("Cinnamon Girl"), which had appeared on tribute albums to those artists.

Eyes in your world

Although I don't "own" this re-release. I have listened to almost all of the tracks. This is an awesome collection of the original record plus some great outakes, b-sides, and compilation tracks. It's $24.99 price may seem high, but many of these songs are next to impossible to finde elsewhere. And the cover of Can's Mother Sky is well worth the price all by itself.

This recording would be a great pick up or a great place to start with your Loop collection.

5 stars for one track….

I've never heard this cd, but I gave it 5 stars for one track: Burning World. I have Burning World on a rare promo-only for college radio ep titled PRISMA UBER EUROPA, and I can tell you it's by far my favorite Loop track. Will blow you away. It sounds wonderful on vinyl, and I don't know how it will sound here in digital format, but It's a great start if you're new to Loop. A trip through your roof beyond your horizon.

Formed: 1986 in London, England

Genre: Rock

Years Active: '80s, '90s, '10s

Discordant, elusive, and utterly hypnotic, Loop conjured a dark, trance-like spell that contrasted sharply with the prevailing British pop music trends of their time. Equal parts the Stooges, Can, and Hawkwind, they resurrected the concept of space rock for a new era in tandem with fellow travelers Spacemen 3, creating droning soundscapes of bleak beauty and harsh dissonance. Loop were formed in London in 1986 by vocalist/guitarist Robert Hampson, who at the time of the group's inception claimed...
