Album Review

Featuring 11 of the group's best-known songs from 1971-1976, Best of the Doobie Brothers contains the boogie rock band's very best songs, including the big hits "Listen to the Music," "Jesus Is Just Alright," "Long Train Runnin'," "China Grove," "Black Water," and "Takin' It to the Streets." For most casual fans, The Best of the Doobie Brothers is the perfect summation of the group's early career, before they turned into a slick, jazzy blue-eyed soul band in the late '70s.

Who Doesn't Love The Doobies?!?!

The Doobie Brothers are amongst the greatest bands of all time! The songs these guys wrote depicted not death, hopelessness, or negativity. They wrote about love, life, friends and the joy of living on God's green Earth! This album is a must have; the top songs that you need to get are "China Grove", "Black Water", "Rockin' Down the Highway", and of course "Jesus Is Just Alright."

I saw the doobie brothers in concert at meadowbrook with steve miller band in August of 09. The doobie bros were so great. They played a new song called back to the chateau that made the whole concert. The doobie bros are the best. They rock hard. Anyone who likes rock should buy this album.

As one of the most popular California pop/rock bands of the '70s, the Doobie Brothers evolved from a mellow, post-hippie boogie band to a slick, soul-inflected pop band by the end of the decade. Along the way, the group racked up a string of gold and platinum albums in the U.S., along with a number of radio hits like "Listen to the Music," "Black Water," and "China Grove." The roots of the Doobie Brothers lie in Pud, a short-lived California country-rock band in the vein of Moby Grape featuring...
